Educational institutions require floor systems that can handle diverse environments—from the sterile, high-stakes atmosphere of a medical laboratory to the high-traffic, high-impact corridors used by thousands of students. For the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City, Architect Kaicee Barranco required specialized solutions that addressed the specific physical and chemical demands of each zone.

1. Medical Laboratory: Buildrite Epocoat FCH
In a laboratory setting, the floor must be more than just a surface; it must be a barrier against contamination and chemical erosion. Arch. Barranco specified Epocoat FCH (High-Build) for this area.
• Chemical Resistance: Formulated from high-grade resins, it resists damage from the various reagents and chemicals used in medical testing.
• Self-Leveling Properties: This ensures a perfectly flat, seamless finish, eliminating cracks or joints where bacteria or hazardous liquids could accumulate.
• Abrasion Resistance: It maintains its integrity and gloss even with the constant movement of lab equipment and heavy foot traffic.

2. University Hallways: Buildrite Polycoat Flex
For the hallways, the priority shifted to student comfort and safety. Polycoat Flex, a rubberized PU flooring system, was selected to transform the corridor experience.
• Shock Absorption: Unlike rigid concrete or tiles, Polycoat Flex provides a cushioning effect. This "soft" feel underfoot significantly reduces fatigue for students and staff walking long distances.
• Non-Slip Safety: The material is inherently high-traction, providing a hard-wearing, non-slip surface even in high-moisture or high-humidity conditions.
• Acoustic Benefits: The rubberized nature of the coating helps dampen the sound of footsteps, contributing to a quieter learning environment.
