Polished concrete floors are becoming a top choice for modern classrooms due to their "cool" aesthetic, extreme durability, and low maintenance. However, achieving a true polished finish using traditional mechanical grinding and honing is a tedious, multi-step process that can be both expensive and time-consuming.

When Silver Dragon Construction was tasked with finishing a classroom floor at Lacarlota City College, they needed a way to achieve that mirror-like look without the logistical headache of heavy machinery. Upon inspection, our technical team noted surface imperfections in the base concrete that would prevent a smooth finish. To address this, we recommended a "Skim and Seal" system.

The process followed a specialized methodology to ensure a professional result:

Correcting Imperfections: Buildrite Hardcrete 303 (Skim Coat for Floors) was applied first. Unlike regular wall skim coats, Hardcrete 303 is specifically engineered to withstand foot traffic. It filled in the pits and leveled out the waves in the concrete, creating a perfectly smooth, "blank canvas."

Achieving the Shine: Once the skim coat was cured, Buildrite Floortek S was applied. This topical sealer provided the "wet look" and high-gloss finish the client desired. It instantly deepened the color of the floor and created a reflective, polished surface.
