Project Reference
Buildrite Epocoat MB / Buildrite Epocoat FCHThe true measure of a construction chemical is not how it looks on the day of application, but how it performs years later under heavy use. In Dungon, Iloilo City, an auto repair shop owned by Engr. Rolando Berdeje of Ultrade Phil's serves as a living testament to the longevity of Buildrite systems.
Completed in 2016, this floor was designed to withstand one of the most punishing environments possible. Auto repair shops face a constant barrage of heavy vehicle traffic, the dragging of metal equipment, and frequent spills of corrosive fluids like engine oil, brake fluid, and gasoline.
The Multi-Layer Defense System:
• The Foundation: The project began with Buildrite Epocoat MB (Moisture Barrier). In a ground-level facility like an auto shop, moisture from the earth can seep through the concrete and cause standard paints to bubble or peel. Epocoat MB acts as a specialized primer that blocks this osmotic pressure, ensuring the topcoat remains permanently bonded.
• The Shield: For the finish, Buildrite Epocoat FCH was applied. This high-build epoxy coating is engineered for "Food Grade" and "Chemical" resistance, making it impervious to the harsh chemicals found in automotive maintenance.
Key Performance Factors After 6+ Years:
• Sustained Abrasion Resistance: Despite six years of heavy loads and tire friction, the surface has maintained its structural integrity, proving that the coating is tough enough to resist mechanical wear.
• Chemical Impermeability: The non-porous nature of Buildrite Epocoat FCH prevents oils and fuels from staining or softening the concrete, allowing for easy cleanup and a safer work environment.
• Exceptional Adhesion: Thanks to the Buildrite Epocoat MB primer, there has been no delamination or peeling, even in a high-moisture tropical environment like Iloilo.
Why this project matters: Most "popular" floor paints fail within 1–2 years in an industrial setting. By using a synchronized system of a moisture barrier and a high-performance topcoat, Engr. Berdeje ensured that his facility remained operational and professional-looking for over half a decade without the need for costly recoating.
