Project Reference
What can you do if you want to replace your tiles with a floor coating? This was the critical question posed by a food processing plant in General Santos City. In preparation for a rigorous food safety inspection, the facility needed to transition from traditional tiled floors—which have porous grout lines that can harbor bacteria—to a more hygienic, seamless option.
Our technical team advised a complete system overhaul. The process began with the removal of all existing tiles to expose the base slab. To address structural cracks and ensure a solid bond with the original concrete, Buildrite Confix LV (low viscosity epoxy resin) was utilized for high-strength injection and priming.
To level and reinforce the floor, we applied Buildrite Hardcrete 510 as a heavy-duty topping. This pre-packed repair mortar is specifically designed for large-scale resurfacing, offering several technical advantages:
• High Compressive Strength: Reaches a robust 5,000 psi, making it suitable for industrial loads.
• Rapid Strength Gain: Minimizes facility downtime by allowing faster progression to the next stage.
• Non-Shrink Properties: Ensures a stable, flat surface without the risk of curling or cracking.
The final phase involves the application of Buildrite Epocoat FCH. This specialized coating is the ideal choice for food processing environments because it provides a seamless, water-resistant, and chemical-resistant finish that meets strict sanitary standards. Stay tuned to see the final transformation of this facility!
