Project Reference

Restoring a heritage high-rise in the heart of Binondo presents a unique engineering challenge. The passage of decades had led to the deterioration of the building's skeletal frame. To support the load of a 15-story structure, the contractor needed to "jacket" the existing columns and beams—a process of adding a new layer of reinforced concrete around the old ones to restore their load-bearing capacity.

The critical hurdle was the density of the reinforcement. Traditional concrete or standard grouts were too thick, leading to "honeycombing" (air pockets) that would compromise the structural integrity. The contractor needed a grout that was fluid enough to be pumped through narrow forms without leaving any voids.

Why SolidCure was the Definitive Choice for this Restoration:
• Extreme Compressive Strength: SolidCure is engineered to reach a massive 8,000 psi. For a building of this height, this high-strength rating provides the necessary safety margin to support vertical loads and resist seismic forces.
• High Flowability & Pumpability: Unlike the contractor's previous brand, SolidCure uses finer aggregates and specialized plasticizers. This allows it to be pumped into deep or congested sections, flowing like a liquid to fill every intricate gap around rebar cages.
• Non-Shrink (Positive Expansion): Standard cement shrinks as it dries, which can create a gap between the old and new concrete. SolidCure features controlled expansion, ensuring 100% contact and a permanent structural bond between the heritage core and the new jacket.
• Industrial Grade Reliability: It is non-staining and non-metallic, ensuring that the repair remains stable and aesthetically clean for the next century of the building's life.

By switching to SolidCure, the contractor successfully rehabilitated the building's foundation and frame, proving that even the most aged structures can be saved with the right technical solution.
