When high-ranking industry leaders like Arch. Don Tapia, a Board Director of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), seek out new solutions, it highlights the importance of constant innovation in construction. Architect Tapia visited the Buildrite Techno Hub to find a more effective alternative for protecting exterior walls against the Philippine climate.

For his project at Deca Homes Grand Vale II, he moved away from conventional methods to try an integrated system that combines aesthetic smoothness with high-performance waterproofing.

The Buildrite Integrated Wall System:
• Surface Refinement: The project utilized Buildrite Skimcoat SF (Smooth Finish) to address surface imperfections on the concrete walls. This provides a perfectly level, "vibe-free" surface, which is essential for the modern look of residential developments.
• The 2-in-1 Shield: For the primary protection, Buildrite Sapal 2 in 1 was applied. This product serves as both a primer and a sealer, streamlining the application process without compromising quality.

Why Buildrite Sapal 2 in 1 Stands Out:
• Exceptional Elasticity: The product cures into a tough, rubber-like elastic film. This is critical for exterior firewalls and parapets, as it can stretch and contract during the severe thermal movements caused by the alternating tropical sun and rain.
• Weather Resistance: Being a water-based acrylic, it is highly resistant to UV degradation. It acts as a durable barrier that protects the substrate from moisture ingress, which is the leading cause of structural deterioration over time.
• Versatile Application: While used here for walls, its formulation is robust enough for GI roofing, gutters, and joints, making it a "go-to" solution for the entire building envelope.
• Paint Compatibility: It is solvent-free and can be easily top-coated with any water-based paint, allowing architects the freedom to achieve any desired color scheme.

Technical Application Note: To achieve the best waterproofing results, Architect Tapia followed the specific dilution ratio: 1-part Buildrite Sapal 2 in 1 to 0.5-part water. This ensures the material penetrates the pores of the skimcoated surface while maintaining enough body to form a protective membrane.
