Project Reference
For commercial buildings, bathroom leaks can lead to significant operational disruptions and damage to lower floors. In this 4-storey project in Tondo, Manila, Aljomitri Corporation—a long-standing partner of Buildrite—emphasized that successful waterproofing is a combination of superior product chemistry and precise application methodology.
Unlike residential bathrooms, commercial facilities face higher frequency of use, making a robust, flexible system mandatory. The project team utilized a strategic "system approach" where each product was assigned a specific role in defending the structure against moisture.
The Buildrite System Strategy:
• Securing Pipe Penetrations: One of the most common leak points is the gap where pipes pass through the concrete slab. Buildrite Handy Fix was applied to these transitions. Its specialized formulation ensures a watertight seal between two different materials (PVC and concrete), accommodating the slight movements caused by water pressure and temperature changes.
• Reinforcing Corner Joints: The "coves" or floor-to-wall junctions are high-stress areas. Buildrite Leak Plug was used here to create a solid, hydraulic seal, ensuring no water could bypass the corners of the bathroom.
• The Flexible Barrier: For the main floor and wall surfaces, Buildrite Flexicrete was used as the primary membrane.
Why Buildrite Flexicrete is Preferred by Professional Contractors:
• Error-Proof Mixing: Traditional one-component systems require the contractor to add their own cement, which often leads to inconsistent ratios and waterproofing failure. Buildrite Flexicrete comes as a pre-measu red kit with its own polymerized cement, designed specifically to react with its liquid acrylic resin.
•Superior Flexibility: As a two-component system, it provides high elasticity. This allows the membrane to act as a "rubberized skin" under the tiles, bridging hairline cracks and resisting the structural vibrations common in multi-storey buildings.
• Optimal Underlayment: It creates a perfect bonding surface for tile adhesives, ensuring that the decorative floor finish remains securely attached for the life of the building.
By following this rigorous methodology and utilizing a synchronized product system, Aljomitri Corporation ensured that all four floors of the commercial building remain protected from seepage and water damage.
